Nicki Minaj has been particular with her collaborative choices over the course of her career, as collaborations with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, and more have catapulted the pop star’s status. Nicki recently lent her talents to Ice Spice’s song “Princess Diana,” and now the rapper has revealed how long it takes for her to get to possible feature requests.

Via Twitter, Nicki was asked, “Queen, when an artist sends you a song for a collaboration, do you know right away if you’re going to do it or do you leave yourself some time to make a decision?”

The rapper responded, “I sleep on it. For weeks usually. Sometimes months.” From there, Nicki said, “Normally, don’t play it after the first day. I let the universe decide. Then one day out of the blue, I tell Juice to pull it up. That means it came back to me on its own.”

Nicki then detailed her process if she decides to roll with the feature. “I lay a few references w/ different flows, then sleep on it some more. Then… boom! I’ve made a decision. Written & recorded. Then we wait…for the barbz to give the nod of approval I guess,” said Minaj. Take a look above.
