Things got a little wild on Sunday (May 7) night during Game 4 of the Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns second-round match-up.
While Nuggets center Nikola Jokić scored a remarkable 53 points, the two-time MVP received a technical foul after an incident with Suns owner Matt Ishbia. The incident started with 2:36 left in the second quarter when Suns guard Josh Okogie fell into the stands while chasing an out-of-bounds ball. From there, Jokić went into the stands to pull the ball out of the hands of a man, who happened to be Ishbia.
After Jokić grabbed the ball from Ishbia, he shoved the Suns owner, leading to the technical foul. Detroit Pistons Hall of Fame point guard Isiah Thomas was also involved in the incident, as he grabbed Jokić's jersey during the incident. Thomas was sitting next to Ishbia as the Suns owner's guest at the game. Neither Thomas or Ishbia faced any penalties for the incident.
Jokić spoke about the altercation after the game, and he stated that Ishbia touched him first, "He (crew chief Tony Brothers) told me I was elbowing the fan, but the fan put his hands on me first. I thought the league is supposed to protect us – but, maybe, I’m wrong."
