Cardi B spoke out on Instagram Live on Sunday (May 7) about her journey as a self-made artist, which included paying for her first tour while she was on Love & Hip Hop.

During the Live, Cardi explained that it took a lot of belief in herself to get where she's at today, and she revealed that she once contemplated publicly retiring from being a dancer while on Love & Hip Hop. From there, Cardi spoke about how she was being offered $50,000 deals from labels before she decided to go on a small tour. Cardi explained that she invested all of her booking fees for someone to film the tour, hotel and travel costs, and opening acts.

After the tour, Cardi was offered $500,000 deals, and then she revealed that she signed with Atlantic for $1.2 million. Once she was signed to the label, Cardi explained that she had to work to get a feature, and she added that Offset was the first person to believe in her. She then broke down how labels will only put big money behind artists that are getting plays, which you can hear more about above.
