The rise in A.I. in music has found people like Drake commenting on the matter, saying “this [is] the final straw.” However, producers like Timbaland have seemingly embraced the new technology being implemented into music. Timbaland recently teased a new collaboration with the Notorious B.I.G., noting the verse stemmed from A.I. technology. While many were amazed at how alike the artificial voice sounds to the late Brooklyn emcee, Charlamagne of ‘The Breakfast Club’ had other thoughts.

The show’s host spoke candidly about the song from Timbaland and the A.I. version of Biggie, saying “Sonically, it sounds cool but it lacks soul.” He then laid out why, saying: “There’s no spirit to it. There’s just nothing to it. That’s why I don’t like that.”

Charlamagne then made a statement that mirrored Drake’s thoughts, saying “I just feel like there’s no spirit to this music. Even when they do it with artists who are still with us, it don’t feel like there’s no spirit to it. There’s no soul to it so it definitely sounds spiritless when it’s people who are no longer with us.” Watch above.
