In this clip, Vlad asked Neil deGrasse Tyson about his thoughts on Elon Musk saying that AI is a serious threat to humankind, and Neil stated that he “thinks a lot about computers.” He then went on to speak about how we’ve come a long way since the “Turing test” in the 1950s that tests a computer’s ability to exhibit AI. Neil went on to point out the ELIZA program from the 1960s that explored communication between humans and computers using AI. From there, Neil pointed out that computers doing calculations is also a form of AI, which he added that he is thankful for.
