Cam’Ron and Mase have mended issues in their friendship, seemingly putting bad blood in the past. One of the things that arrived from them patching their issues was the ‘It Is What It Is’ sports talk show, where Mase is a host on the series alongside Cam. Now, Cam has revealed why he brought Mase on to the show.
While speaking to ‘Good Day New York,’ Cam was asked about his show and why he transitioned into sports and journalism.
The rapper said: “So look, Hip Hop is 50 years old and I’ve been doing this 25 years, so if you don’t reinvent yourself, you’ll be looking at a 1997 Cam’ron.”
Cam explained, “‘I love sports and need to be on television.’ People always offer me things to do on television. So I’m like, ‘Let me create my own show, not somebody giving me a show, and see how it goes.” Killa spoke on the success, then was asked about Mase’s role on the show. “Ma$e got me my first record deal ever. So doing this show and creating this show and having him be a part of it, it felt like I’m giving back to him for helping me even be an entertainer,” said Cam’Ron.
The Dipset frontman continued, “I may not have been where I’m at if he didn’t take me to Biggie Smalls and get me my first record deal… I wanted to pay him back, and hopefully, this show will do that.” Watch above.
