2 Pac was previously honored with his own street in Oakland, called ‘Tupac Shakur Way.’ Now, it appears the late rapper and actor will be getting his name immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Tupac’s ceremony will take place on June 7, a week ahead of his 52nd birthday, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They also noted the addition of Shakur’s name would be the Walk of Fame’s 2,758th star. Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said, “This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come. Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”
Los Angeles radio staple Big Boy is set to host the ceremony, while writer Jamal Joseph and director Allen Hughes will serve as guest speakers. The rapper’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur will accept the star on his behalf.
Previously, headlines related to the “Dear Mama” rapper happened after DJ Clark Kent said Biggie was killed because Tupac lied about setting him up.
