One of the few bright spots of 2020's quarantine period is that sports fans worldwide were united through their intrigue for ESPN's award-winning docuseries, The Last Dance. For many, the highlights, game footage, and reflective interviews dredged up some of their fondest memories of the Chicago Bulls' dynasty led by NBA Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. But for some of the subjects involved (not named Michael Jordan), the content came across as a little too blatantly honest, biased, and revealing. ESPN set the sporting world ablaze by rolling out its 10-part docuseries over the course of five weeks, from April 19th to May 17. Unfortunately, it set fire to Jordan and Pippen's friendship as accusations would follow, leading to their ex-teammate, Charles Oakley, going public with an assertion that the two men would never reconcile under any circumstance back in January of 2022. Since then, matters have only been even more complicated, as Pippen's ex-wife, Larsa (48), began dating Michael Jordan's second oldest son Marcus (32), shortly after Oakley's statement.
In a recent guest appearance on a podcast called Gimme the Sauce, Scottie Pippen dropped a hot take on the host Stacey King (Jordan and Pippen's former teammate on the Bulls), about Michael Jordan as a player before he entered his prime.
“I’ve seen Michael Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls," Pippen recalled. "You guys have seen him play. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. It was all 1-on-1, shooting bad shots. And all of a sudden, we become a team, and we start winning. Everybody forgot who he was..."He was a player that, really, winning wasn't at the top of his category," Pippen said. "It was scoring. He was going after scoring titles.”
When the quote was brought to the attention of Ma$e and Cam'ron during the opening segment of their hit show on YouTube, It Is What It Is, the latter suggested that Pippen was just being spiteful because MJ's son is dating his ex-wife, Larsa. He then attempted to add more context to what Pippen might have been implying by indicating that a better example would have been to compare LeBron to Jordan when assessing his ex-teammate's play. In response, Ma$e cracked a joke by implying that Pippen's ex-wife could end up in a relationship with Bronny or Byrce James if he didn't straighten out his attitude.
"This is not basketball related, he's making this basketball related...I think this [beef] has nothing to do with basketball," Cam'ron said. "To me, it's not even a lot to talk about. If [Scottie Pippen's comments] made sense, then yeah. But, that's always going to be a debate, whether LeBron is better than Michael or Michael is better than Lebron..."
"This has nothing to do with that," Said Ma$e as he chimed in while Cam'ron was in mid-sentence. "And if [he] keeps it up, one of LeBron's sons might get her..."
After Cam'ron laughed hysterically, Ma$e added: "You keep it up, Scottie, and she's gonna end up with one of [LeBron's Sons].
