According to reports, Soulja Boy and his legal team filed a motion for a new trial for the assault and kidnapping case filed by his ex-girlfriend Kayla Myers. The woman claimed the rapper assaulted and kidnapped her, with the situation lasting for six hours at his Malibu home.
The rapper reportedly requested a new trial after a jury awarded $235,000 to Myers and another $236,000 in “punitive damages,” bringing her total to almost $500,000. Soulja Boy’s team cited “irregularities in the proceedings of the court, jury or adverse party, or any order of the court or abuse of discretion by which either party was prevented from having a fair trial.”
Soulja Boy’s team also said the jury participated in misconduct and has evidence he will present in a new trial to go along with the claim. Stay tuned for more updates.
