Various videos were shown during day 1 of YNW Melly's double murder trial, including footage of him getting in the vehicle with Christopher "YNW Juvy" Thomas Jr. and Anthony "YNW Sakchaser" Williams. This was the last time Thomas and Williams were seen alive, as they were fatally shot the night the footage was taken.
Prosecutors have accused Melly and his co-defendant, Cortlen "YNW Bortlen" Henry, of killing the two men and staging the crime scene to look like a drive-by shooting. Prosecutors claim that cell phone data, blood splatter, and a bullet casing in the car prove that the shooting happened from inside the car. However, Melly's lawyer, David Howard, accused the prosecution's investigation of being "incompetent and incomplete" in his opening arguments on Monday.
Melly pleaded not guilty to the charges in 2019. He may face the death penalty if found guilty of first-degree murder.
