The narcotics unit and violent crime squad in Queens, New York City recently capped off an 18-month investigation into a gun and drug trafficking ring allegedly created by the Latin Kings, with a significant gang takedown. According to the NYPD, the Latin Kings facilitated deals to disperse guns, cocaine, fentanyl, ecstasy, and Adderall to paying customers. In response, law enforcement infiltrated the Latin Kings with a multitude of undercover cops to observe the illegal activity that involved members ranging from 18 to 43 years old.
"We had our undercover detectives go up there for a while and spend enormous amounts of time in this area identifying people who were responsible for not only carrying firearms and selling narcotics but also selling firearms," said NYPD Deputy Chief Jerry O'Sullivan.
The drug bust included the arrest of seven Latin Kings and their alleged leader, Adrien Escobar, who could face up to 150 years in prison if convicted.
