Nathan Chasing Horse, who is best known for playing Smiles a Lot in the Oscar-winning film "Dances With Wolves," is facing nine new charges of sexual exploitation and sexual assault in Canada. The 47-year-old has been locked up in the US since his arrest in January for allegedly sexually assaulting young indigenous girls.
After his role in the Kevin Costner film, Chasing Horse made a name for himself as a self-proclaimed medicine man. Prosecutors allege that he used his position in a "cult-like" group called "The Circle" to abuse the victims. In his Las Vegas case, Nathan was charged with 18 felonies, including sexual assault of a minor, child abuse, and kidnapping.
His current charges in Alberta, Canada, include three counts of sexual exploitation and four counts of sexual assault. Sgt. Nancy Farmer of the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service revealed in a statement that "The investigation spanned over the course of several years with one of the offenses dating back to 2005." Farmer adds that they "anticipate more victims will come forward."
