During day four of YNW Melly's double murder trial, Felicia Holmes, the mother of YNW Melly's ex-girlfriend, took the stand. Holmes was asked to testify about an alleged conversation Melly had with her daughter the night YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser were killed. Holmes told the courtroom, "I heard that there might have been a shooting."

While on the stand, Holmes was asked how she was doing, and she stated, "I feel threatened." This led Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy to declare Holmes a "hostile" witness to the state, and he allowed her testimony to continue.

Instagram posts were shown during Holmes' testimony, including her intent to cooperate with law enforcement. On the stand, Holmes stated, "The state has ruined my life," and she claimed that she had been "intimidated" with threats of arrest.

From there, Judge Murphy dismissed Holmes and the jury, leading to Defense Attorney David Howard moving for a mistrial, alleging there had been a "prejudicial fiasco" in court. Howard stated, "This jury sat there and watched this fiasco unfold with at least 10, maybe 15 sidebars, after every two questions. Howard also alleged that Holmes' "highly prejudicial" testimony had tainted the jury.

Judge Murphy revealed he would review the transcripts of the testimony before deciding about the motion.
