It was recently revealed that Boosie was facing multiple gun charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and transporting firearms across interstate highways. Boosie recently appeared in federal court in San Diego this past Thursday (June 16) to face the charges. Now, details from his court appearance have surfaced.

The rapper and his legal team appeared before Judge David Leshner while in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. During that appearance, it was decided that Boosie would be held in jail until his hearing on Tuesday (June 20).

It was noted that Boosie was facing a gun charge in San Diego Superior Court after being arrested in May during a traffic stop where firearms were found in the car. The charge in San Diego Superior Court was dismissed, but federal agents arrested Boosie after he left the courtroom and issued an identical charge in federal court. Prosecutors in the case reportedly moved to continue the hearing on Tuesday in order to present new info related to the detention hearing.

An attorney for Boosie—Damon Alimouri, said, “I think some of this has to do [with the fact] that he's 'outspoken' on social media,” before saying, “Ultimately, Boosie has a First Amendment right.” Another lawyer for Boosie—Meghan Blanco, says the current issues in court for Boosie are “very unusual,” citing the petite policy, which is supposed to protect defendants from harassment via unnecessary second trials and numerous prosecutions.
