Shortly after the 2023 NBA free agency market opened, the Houston Rockets signed Fred VanVleet (a 3-year deal worth $130 million) and Dillon Brooks (a 4-year deal worth $80 million). For the Houston Rockets, adding a 2022 NBA All-Star and a member of the All-Defensive Second Team is a significant step towards becoming playoff contenders again, which is something they have not done since the departure of James Harden. However, the exciting news for the team was quickly overshadowed when footage surfaced of their leading scorer from last season, Jalen Green (22.1 points per game), playfully dry-humping his teammate Josh Christopher.
Although this probably isn't the type of attention the Houston Rockets sought at the start of free agency, they now have veterans such as Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, and 2023 NBA Champion Jeff Green to help provide the team's young cornerstones with advice and guidance.
