On Saturday, a 41-year-old man named Gerardo Hernandez-Rodriguez plunged to his death in a tragic incident that unfolded in front of his wife and their five children during a hike at Multnomah Falls in Oregon. The fall ignited a search by the Corbett Fire District and Multnomah County Sheriffs. Gerardo's body was recovered about 45 minutes later.

Upon arrival, Multnomah County Sheriffs determined that the Portland native "stumbled and fell" about 200 feet below. Upon making the revelation, law enforcement also shared another belief.

“After further investigation...It is believed that alcohol impairment was likely a contributing factor in the fall,” the sheriff's office said.

The tragic incident happened about a half mile from the ground. On Monday, a GoFundMe campaign was started to raise money for Gerado Hernandez-Rodriguez's funeral.
