MF Doom's wife, Jasmin, is raising questions about the care he received in the city of Leeds in England leading up to his death. The rapper and his wife had lived in the UK since moving from the U.S. in 2010.
During an inquiry hearing over MF DOOM's hospital care, Jasmin revealed that he had developed a number of health conditions, including kidney disease. He was prescribed a new ACE inhibitor, and after two doses, MF DOOM developed a 'rare' side effect that led to a condition called angioedema. Jasmin revealed that he went to the emergency room because he was having breathing problems, and his tongue and throat had started to swell.
Jasmin was unable to accompany her husband to the hospital due to COVID restrictions, but he called her in distress to reveal that he was having trouble breathing and his hospital room buzzer to alert the staff was out of his reach. Jasmin then contacted the staff from a second phone, but her legal representatives questioned why it took two hours for the staff to administer MF DOOM medication for his swollen throat.
Jasmin went on to say that she wasn't able to visit her husband until October 31, 2020, when "his respirator was turned off that was helping him breathe." She then spoke about seeing his room, stating, "I don't want to say it was an old storage room...it wasn't set up. Maybe it was a room a long time ago. It did have a bed in it."
The hospital says a "serious incident investigation" was carried out after MF DOOM's death, and the inquest into his death continues.
