Nicki Minaj has enjoyed a lengthy career in the hip-hop world, and in light of Spotify releasing their top 50 most-streamed hip-hop albums, she took to Twitter to give a run-down of her accomplishments.
She started off by pointing out, "Last rap song to debut #1? SUPER FREAKY GIRL. Highest debut for a solo rap song by a female in 2023? RED RUBY DA SLEEZE. The 2 highest debuts for female rap collabs in 2023…(#4 & #7) Will the #PinkTape be the 1st rap album to go #1 in 2023?"
From there, Nicki pointed to the top 10 most-streamed hip-hop artists on Spotify, where she landed at number 10. She is the only female artist on the list, and Nicki responded to a fan pointing out that she's the most streamed female "despite debuting in the pure sales era."
Nicki wrote, "Right. They don’t want y’all to remember that part. Prior to the 'streaming era' our music was simply stolen from limewire, etc. even the millions of streams we got did not count toward billboard. S/o to the ppl who fought to get those streams to count tho."
