On June 14, 2023, Shannon Sharpe gave a tearful farewell to the loyal supporters of Skip and Shannon: Undisputed and his co-host, Skip Bayless. Shannon's departure from FS1 made him the hottest free agent in the sports media. About two weeks later, FS1's rival network, ESPN, dropped a bombshell of its own with the announcement of company-wide layoffs that included big names such as Keyshawn Johnson, Max Kellerman, Todd McShay, Jalen Rose, Suzy Kolber, and more. So, while Shannon Sharpe continues to mull recruitment pitches to join platforms such as ESPN and FanDuel, the recent wave of departures from ESPN has also made for some interesting speculation regarding who will succeed him as Skip's debate partner on Undisputed. Thus far, no names have been officially announced, as the hit show has been on a hiatus since mid-June.

On Wednesday, America's most popular Dallas Cowboys fan, Skip Bayless, took to Instagram with the announcement FS1's flagship show will make its highly anticipated return on August 28th.

"LeBron isn’t the only one in the lab this summer. Can’t wait to unveil Undisputed just in time for football season," Skip wrote.

Late August is an appropriate time of the year for a return date, as the NFL regular season starts on September 7th, and the MLB post-season is set to begin one month later on October 3rd. In a recent episode of his podcast, The Skip Bayless Show, Skip stated that his close friend Lil Wayne and Young Money would be heavily involved in the relaunch of Undisputed.
