Mattel, the iconic toy manufacturer/entertainment company responsible for bringing the world Barbie, Masters of the Universe, and Hot Wheels, will be opening a brand new theme park based on their classic assortment of toys and cartoons sometime next year. Mattel Adventure Park will feature rollercoasters, shows, beaches, an electric passenger train, a real-life He-Man Castle, a Barbie Beachhouse, a laser tag arena, an immersive mini-golf course, a luxury hotel, a two-story nightclub, a lagoon with a 52,000 square-foot island, a shopping center, an extravagant dining experience and so many other attractions that it is already being compared to a Disney Park.
Originally scheduled to open in 2023, the park will reportedly cost approximately $260 million to complete by next year; it will be Arizona's largest resort. Located in the city of Glendale, Mattel Adventure Park has incurred numerous delays thus far. Nevertheless, some of the attractions that many of the state's residents seem to be excited about the most are the ultra-fast Hot Wheels-themed go-karts and the life-sized racetrack that will accompany the vehicles. The park will also feature two Hot Wheels-themed rollercoasters.
