Former NBA player Jeff Teague recently went viral after recounting the reasons behind his past beef with Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady on the increasingly popular Club 520 Podcast.
Teague explained how much of a fan he was of McGrady prior to becoming teammates for one season in Atlanta during the 2011-12 season. At the time, Teague was entering the third season of his NBA career whereas McGrady was entering his 15th and final season. But Teague noted how they clashed due to McGrady not respecting the then-23-year-old Teague.
"He cold, but he don't like me, I don't like him either," Teague said of McGrady. "I was in my third year, I was starting point guard, he came to our team. And he was really pissed that I was starting."
"You know, I'm a fan, so I'm like, 'Damn. That's T-Mac in the Maybach with some big ass Gucci clothes on," as he recalled their initial tense exchanges. Teague said he would trash talk McGrady by reminding him that he wasn't on the level of LeBron or Kobe but said T-Mac shrugged it off by simply asking, "N***a, who the f*** are you?"
Teague said he got to a point where he “wanted to fight that n***a so bad.” But teammate Marvin Williams dissuaded him not to fight T-Mac on account that he would “beat the s*** outta you, relax.”
This prompted Teague to recall saying, "I’mma have n***as jump that n***a. Wait till we get to Indiana.'"
T-Mac apparently didn't approve of Teague's story as he commented on the post, “N***as say anything on these podcast smfh.”
