Nearly three months after the release of the Dear Mama docuseries on FX and Hulu, TIME studios announced the coming of a documentary about his old rap rival, Biggie Smalls. Understanding Christopher Wallace will feature on-screen contributions from some of Biggie's most notable collaborators, such as Lil Kim, Lil Cease, and Jadakiss. The film will be directed by Vikram Gandhi (Trigger Warning with Killer Mike) and narrated by Biggie's only son, C.J. Wallace. Upon the announcement, C.J. released the following statement about the upcoming project.

“Over the past few years, I realized my personal journey is connected to understanding who Christopher George Latore Wallace was outside of his big rap persona,” C.J. Wallace wrote. “I am on a journey to fully understand the world he lived in and the massive impact he had on American and Black history, and by doing so, I can ensure that I honor his hopes and dreams while I build and create my own legacy for future generations of Wallaces.”

C.J.'s mother, Faith Evans, will also appear in the documentary. So far, Understanding Christopher Wallace has not been given a release date. However, much like Dear Mama, the production is expected to premiere on a popular streaming platform.
