Two days before Christmas, Tory Lanez was found guilty of three charges regarding the L.A. shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. The Canadian singer/rapper is currently behind bars, where he faces a sentence that could last as long as 22 years. In the months leading up to the controversial trial, Lanez was criticized by fellow rappers, such as Soulja Boy, who responded to news reports regarding the case. This week, Tory Lanez released a statement on Instagram about what he believes was unfair press coverage by a certain news reporter in particular--Meghann Cunif from the Law & Crime Network.
“With all due respect, please disregard anything Meghann Cuniff [sic] reports on Tory Lanez,” the team wrote. “Her objective, perspective/narrative has always been negative and extremely biased towards him. If there is an update on Tory, it will come from this first. If it doesn’t come from this page, it’s not real. With love – The Umbrella.”
On Thursday, Cuniff issued the following response via Twitter.
"As my article explains: Regarding Lanez's post about me, I can't pretend to know what's happening in Lanez's team's world, but my best guess is they are at least a little bit embarrassed by the Ronda Dixon episode and posted that as a coping mechanism."
Cuniff's comments were about the alleged rift between Tory's lead attorney Joey Baez and Ronda Renee Dixon after a motion for the latter to join Tory's defense team was denied by a judge.
