On Friday (July 14), boxing champion Gervonta Davis was released from jail after being sentenced over a house arrest violation.
Gervonta's legal issues stem from an incident in 2020, where he was accused of running a red light, slamming into another car, and fleeing the scene. He reached a plea deal in the case in February for a 90-day house arrest sentence, but the judge ruled in June that he violated the terms. The judge explained that Gervonta had moved two times without proper permission and sentenced him to serve the rest of his time in jail.
Gervonta appeared to celebrate his release on Twitter by posting a saluting emoji, but he has yet to speak publicly about his release.
