Update 07/18/2023 4:50pm:

Last week, Tony Willrich made headlines on social media with a post that indicated he was the "First Openly Gay Crip Gang Rapper." Since then, the Texas-based recording artist has gone viral with his latest single, "F*ck A N*gga." In contrast, his sudden rise to popularity has also garnered a fair share of naysayers who have openly questioned his affiliation with one of the most notorious gangs in the world. On Tuesday, Tony responded with a post that somewhat solidified his previous claim.  The post featured a few photos with a well-known street legend/Crip named OG Percy along with a caption that read, "Told Y'all I Was A Crip."

Original 07/14/2023 6:58pm:

When Frank Ocean came out of the closet in a Tmblr post in 2012, the revelation emboldened other hip-hop/R&B artists such as Kevin Abstract, Lil Peep, ilovemakonnen, Taylor Bennett, and Lil Nas X also to reveal where they landed on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Although gangsta rappers have foretold prison stories about their acquaintances having relationships with members of the same sex, there has never been a rapper associated with the Crip gang to openly admit that they were gay until recently. (You can listen to him rap about that here)

Tony Willrich, a new rapper from Texas, spoke about being an openly gay crip rapper during an interview during the Spring. He dropped "F*ck A N*gga" on Tuesday, and the song has since gone viral, along with his backstory.
