For sports fans in Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Los Angeles Dodgers hold a special place in their hearts that is deeply rooted in historical accomplishments such as the Lakers' first Threepeat (in 2000, 2001, and 2002) and cultural phenomenons like Fernando Valenzuela and Hideo Nomo with the Dodgers. Even though the Los Angeles Raiders and Los Angeles Rams brought Super Bowl trophies back to the city in the past, nothing compares to a championship parade when the primary colors are purple and gold or Dodger blue. Kobe Bryant's untimely death during the Covid-19 lockdown period of 2020 sent emotional shockwaves throughout Southern California, and it has since resulted in countless murals, an NBA All-Star Trophy named in his honor, the commencement of "Kobe Bryant Boulevard" in downtown Los Angeles and both of his jersey numbers being retired by the Lakers.

On September 1st, the Los Angeles Dodgers will also honor Kobe's jersey numbers with unique "Black Mamba" baseball uniforms that pay homage to his old team and signature nickname. Yesterday, the Dodgers announced that their specialized jerseys would be given away to a certain amount of fans during a homestand that should have significant playoff implications against the Atlanta Braves.

The upcoming series at Dodger Stadium between the first-place team in the NL West and the first-place team in NL East just got a lot more interesting. If fans of the Lakers and Dodgers hope to own a piece of history, they must first purchase tickets to "Lakers Night" here.
