Travis Doss, a rapper named Trap Montana, was arrested after Las Vegas police officers rescued six children from his home, including two locked in a cage.
Police were alerted to the home after Doss' wife, Amanda Stamper, called police from a nearby convenience store after she said Doss threatened to kill her. Inside the one-bedroom, one-bathroom extended stay apartment, police found the children, ages 9 and 11, padlocked inside dog cages. Police described one of the kids as having "two black eyes that were swollen shut, multiple marks and bruises all over his body, and he was emaciated."
Doss is the father of all seven children. Stamper is the mother to one and is pregnant with another. Stamper told police that Doss beat the children with "belts, extension cords, skillets, his hands, and feet."
Court documents add, "Amanda said all the children are covered with marks from their neck down." Stamper added that Doss told her he believed the 11-year-old was dead because he kicked him in the head too hard. Doss told police during an interview that he knew he "beat [the child] pretty bad" but he had "no choice."
Bodycam footage of the incident shows the kids speaking to officers about the abuse, including not being properly fed and being locked in the dog cages "all day, every day."
Doss was indicted on 40 charges in the incident, while Stamper was indicted on seven child abuse charges. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
