There are very few sitcoms from the 1980s and 90s that remain prevalent in pop culture. Streaming numbers for old shows like Family Matters, Full House, Married With Children, Boy Meets World, Friends, Martin, Living Single, and Senfield continue to thrive years after they were taken off the air. Some of the shows have even been relaunched in a modern-day setting. Although Alf may have become outdated much quicker than its adversaries on network television, the award-winning sci-fi comedy about a family that adopted a witty, cat-eating alien that speaks perfect English has remained a cult classic amongst television/film fans. The success of films like Ted in the 2010s has shown that there is still a place for satirical puppetry in Hollywood.

After being off the air for several decades, an Alf reboot is returning to television thanks to Ryan Reynolds. The 46-year-old star of the long-awaited Deadpool 3 is executive producing original content starring "Alf" for his newly launched platform, Maximum Effort. Reynolds procured the rights to Alf upon securing a deal with Fubo. He will partner with the creator of Alf, Paul Fusco (and his company Stout Studios), to present new episodes of Alf to the public starting on Saturday, July 29th.

"At Maximum Effort, we love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining," Reynolds said. "Besides my irrational love of ALF growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life."

A few days ago, Ryan Reynolds hopped on social media and posted a commercial for his new series. Scroll up and press play to watch.
