A ring that 2Pac designed himself sold for $1.02 million in an auction on Tuesday (July 25), far exceeding the estimated $300,000 it was expected to fetch. The ring breaks the record for the most-expensive hip-hop item sold at auction.
2Pac designed the gold ring to look like a crown, and it is adorned with a giant ruby in the center of the crown and 5 carats of diamonds throughout. The ring is engraved with "Pac & Dada 1996" to commemorate his engagement to Kidada Jones. 2Pac wore the ring at the MTV VMAs just three days before he was shot and killed in Las Vegas.

A ring that was designed and worn by 2Pac is set to be auctioned by Sotheby's on July 18, as they are celebrating the 50th year anniversary of the birth of hip-hop.
2Pac wore the ring to the MTV Video Music Awards just ten days before his death in 1996 at just 25. The ring is made to look like a crown around the finger and features a giant cabochon ruby flanked by two pavé-cut diamonds in front and center. In total, it has 5 carats of diamonds and is inscribed with "Pac & Dada, 1996," likely a nod to his fiancée, Kidada Jones.
According to Sotheby's, the ring is estimated to be valued at $200,000 to $300,000. You can check it out in full up top.
