According to reports, Hunter Dekkers, junior quarterback for the Iowa State University Cyclones is among several others who have been named in a gambling probe.
Dekkers, who started every game for Cyclones last season reportedly placed wagers on several Iowa State sporting events including allegedly betting on a 2021 football game against Oklahoma State where he was the backup quarterback.
It's important to note that Dekkers's parents have openly maintained they "engaged in a scheme" to conceal their son's identity in order to place bets. In other words, Dekkers's mother admitted to being her son's gambling proxy to make it seem like they were coming from her and not him.
Dekkers has since been charged with tampering with records related to an investigation into sports gambling courtesy of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. He also runs the risk of permanently losing NCAA eligibility.
