In the past decade, Skip Bayless and Richerd Sherman have each given the sports world a number of memorable on-camera spats. Skip Bayless's off-script arguments with Jalen Rose, Cris Carter, and Shannon Sharpe at the debate table certainly provided the internet with fireworks. But none of those moments compared to Sherman's fiery commentary about Michael Crabtree immediately following the 2014 NFC Championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. However, this is one moment that comes close. During the Seahawks' championship run in 2014, the 5-time Pro-Bowler appeared as a guest on First Take, during Skip's tenure with ESPN. The two engaged in an argument that has since become legendary (you can watch the classic segment here). Not only did Sherman rip Skip during his guest appearance, but he also famously stated, "You have never accomplished anything" and "I'm better at life than you."
In an announcement that is both full circle and ironic, FS1 has hired Richard Sherman to help fill the void left behind by Shannon Sharpe on Undisputed. Soon, the Seahawks & 49ers great will have his chance to prove if he is better than Skip in the debating arena. After retiring from the NFL IN 2021, Sherman joined Amazon as an analyst for Thursday Night Football. After one year of experience in the media, the future Hall of Famer will be inserted into one of the most-watched time slots in sports television, where Undisputed will be pitted against First Take on ESPN. Skip, and Shannon had their first taste of working together on First Take, so it's fitting that Skip and Richard also crossed paths for the first time on the same platform. According to reports, Sherman will join the debate desk 50 to 100 times per year. Producers at FS1 still have some hiring to do regarding the dates that Richard Sherman and Lil Wayne aren't scheduled to appear on their most popular program. Either way, the morning ratings war between Undisputed and First Take just became a lot more interesting.
There is more news to come as Stephen A. Smith continues to lobby for Skip's former partner, Shannon, to join him at ESPN. For more on this developing story, stay tuned.
