Shortly after Shannon Sharpe bid a tearful farewell to Skip Bayless on Undisputed, their hit show on FS1, the NFL Hall of Famer became the hottest free agent in sports television, prompting some of ESPN's biggest stars like Stephen A. Smith and Pat McAfee, to make sales pitches to him while on the air. Although he's been linked to platforms such as FanDuel and ESPN, Shannon still hasn't signed on the dotted line with any media outlet. But during his absence from television, ESPN fired a slew of on-air talent, from Max Kellerman and Bomani Jones to Todd McShay and Jalen Rose. This has made for a very interesting game of "musical chairs" between ESPN and FS1, who are rumored to be adding two former sportscasters from their rival company by the end of the week.

The executive producers at FS1 have been quite busy filling out the rotation for debate partners who will oppose Skip Bayless this Fall. Shortly after news broke that former ESPN host Rachel Nichols would be joining Skip on Undisputed, his old-debate partner, Shannon, took to Instagram and gave fans a friendly reminder that he will also be returning to national television this Fall.

"Don’t worry I’ll be back on tv soon to cover Football season," Shannon wrote. "These vacations are needed but, it’s too hot out here! I’m going back inside to the A/C where there’s cameras, microphones, and [Le Portier Cognac]."

The college football season starts on August 26th, and the NFL season kicks off about two weeks later on September 7th. So, if Shannon's announcement holds true, that would mean that fans should expect an announcement about where he plans to sign in the coming weeks, followed by his return to TV in less than a month. In July, Stephen A. Smith stated that he is very "hopeful" and "confident" that Shannon Sharpe will be joining him at ESPN. But Shannon has yet to have dropped hints about which company will be signing him to what figures to be a very lucrative contract.
