During Tory Lanez's sentencing, 76 letters were submitted on behalf of an unnamed defendant. Among these letters, one by the singer, Iggy Azalea, gained attention when it was publicly read in court. Azalea initially thought her letter would remain private, only for the judge to read it aloud. In her letter, Azalea advocated for a "transformational" sentence rather than one that would ruin the defendant's life. Azalea appeared to have to reaffirm her neutrality following the reading of the letter. In another strange turn within the trial, a letter from a hair transplant doctor claimed the defendant had helped others suffering from hair loss, causing questioning and speculation on social media. Other letters highlighted the defendant's actions in prison, including leading daily prayers, which was seen by some as an argument for continued imprisonment. The trial has sparked discussions about the nature of such letters and their place in court proceedings.
