The history of the infamous "Chair Shot" is said to have started with "Wild Bull" Curry, a former Brass Knuckles Champion who fought in the NWA, one of America's original pro wrestling promotions, during the 1940S. In the following decades, the infamous tactic would become a fixture amongst pro wrestling heels such as The Iron Sheik, Abdullah the Butcher, and Terry Funk until the "Attitude Era" of the WWE, where "chair shots" became a widespread gambit used by heels like Mankind and anti-heroes like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Edge, and Christian.
Today, the term "chair shot" is a part of pop culture in America. The recent "Riverboat Brawl" depicted a chair-wielding man who inadvertently shined a light on the infamous wrestling move, creating a series of memes that have been trending online ever since. Now that "chair shots" are all the rage, Dale Brown recently chimed in with an instructional video on how to avoid being the recipient of a KO with a folding chair. The clip starts with self-defense guru from Detriot looking into the camera with his signature "raised eyebrow" before sharing some safety tips on how to disarm your combatant if they're armed with a chair. He also details how to use the folding chair against them.
