Travis Rudolph recounted the moments leading up to his arrest on one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. He described returning to the house after a melee, ignorant of the severity of the situation, only learning of the charges several hours later. Rudolph expressed shock at the news, recalling his surprise upon seeing the words "first-degree murder" on the report, given that he believed his actions were born out of defense rather than aggression.
