On May 23, 1999, Owen Hart tragically fell to his death while attempting to lower himself from the ceiling of Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, during a live WWE event called Over The Edge. The younger brother of Bret "The Hitman" Hart was just one title shy of becoming a "Grand Slam Champion." He passed away while donning the attire of the character he called "The Blue Blazer." The following day on Monday Night Raw, Owen was honored by a litany of WWE superstars, out of character, such as Triple H, who cried during a tribute about his fallen friend. Six years later, on November 5, 2005, the great Eddie Guerrero died unexpectedly in his hotel room in Minneapolis. The man who WWE superstars named the "11th greatest pro wrestler of all time" received a similar sendoff on the company's flagship show the following Monday.

Owen Hart and Eddie Guerrero passed away during the prime years of their careers while they were still in their 30s. Although other notable WWE Hall of Famers, such as Dusty Rhodes, Macho Man Randy Savage, and "Hot Rod" Roddy Pipper, all lived until their 60s before passing away, their deaths were felt just as much throughout the WWE Universe. An artist recently used an AI generator to create images of what these men would have looked like if they were still with us today. The artwork includes an image of André The Giant, the first ever WWE Hall of Famer and arguably the most influential pro wrestler to have ever lived.

Noticeably missing from the photos were other wrestling greats who passed too soon, such as The Ultimate Warrior, Chyna, and Road Warrior Hawk.
