When Shannon Sharpe departed from Undisputed after seven years on FS1, he became the hottest free agent in sports media and left Skip Bayless with a gaping hole to fill at the debate desk. Therefore, a two-month game of one-upmanship ensued after their tearful goodbye on June 13th. Shannon kicked things off by igniting a bidding war for his services amongst major platforms like ESPN and FanDuel. But Skip struck first by singing Lil Wayne as a contributor to the Undisputed relaunch before adding Richard Sherman, Rachel Nichols, Michael Irvin, and Keyshawn Johnson. On the flip side, Shannon waited in the wings before finally announcing a partnership to bring his hit podcast, Club Shay Shay to The Volume, owned by the great Colin Cowherd. That news was followed by a live announcement on First Take that Shannon would be joining Stephen A. Smith as a debater every Monday and Tuesday, starting on September 4th. With most of the chips falling into place, Jason Whitlock, a former colleague of Skip and Shannon at FS1, recently weighed in with his personal assessment of who won the off-season: Skip or Shannon.

Scroll up and skip ahead to the 6:08 mark to see who Whitlock declared the winner.
