He stated that his girlfriend was not expecting the proposal, and he chose to recreate the scenario in New York mainly because the ring he selected was designed by a local jeweler there. The completion of the ring coincided well with his interview timing. He also explained that as the proposal was the first of its kind on the Breakfast Club, it made the whole event more memorable. He expressed his fondness for the Breakfast Club, crediting them with facilitating a number of significant interviews and viral moments. Despite the possible interruption from Charlamagne, the unexpected proposal still went ahead and was well received.
