In this clip, Alan Dershowitz offers an engaging personal history that showcases resilience, ambition, heritage, and solidarity. Raised in a poor but active Jewish household that was invested in their neighborhood, Alan showed early on a zest for overcoming adversity. Despite an estimated C average in law school, he not only held his own but emerged first in his class and editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal. His laurels did not stop there, as he went on to serve as a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg, which became a pivotal moment in his career. In 1964, he became an assistant professor at Harvard, rising to the rank of full professor by age 28 in 1967.
