With so much hype surrounding USC quarterback Caleb Williams and the early projections that have him selected number one overall in next year's NFL draft, Arch Manning has flown relatively under the radar this off-season. The 18-year-old is already a five-star quarterback and the #3 recruitment prospect in the class of 2023. His lineage in the NFL goes all the way back to his grandfather, Archie, who had a Hall of Fame career with the New Orleans Saints. Arch's uncles, Peyton and Eli, famously won two Super Bowls each, while his father, Cooper, who many have suggested was the most talented Manning of them all, was a standout wide receiver in high school before being forced to retire due to health concerns (spinal stenosis).
Today, Arch Manning is a "true freshman" at the University of Texas and number two on the team's depth chart behind starting quarterback Quinn Ewers. At 6'4" and 215 lbs, Arch is nearly the same size as his uncles when they played pro ball, but the NFL will have to wait at least three years to get their hands on the next signal-caller from the Manning family, per league rules. However, that has not stopped Arch from cashing in on his name, image, and likeness. In July, the Lousiana native signed his first NIL deal with a trading card company called Panini America. His NIL valuation is currently $3.8 million, which ranks second amongst college athletes behind Bronny James. To put his earning potential in perspective, Arch earns more NIL money than Joe Burrow's NFL base salary ($1,010,000). Unfortunately, the soonest that NFL fans could see Arch Manning square off against Joe Burrow will be 2025; once Arch is eligible to turn pro. By that time, Joe Burrow will likely have signed a contract extension with the Cincinnati Bengals that makes him close to being the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
