Back in 2000, future Hall of Famer Paul Pierce found himself involved in an altercation that led to him being nearly fatally stabbed.

Pierce opened up about the incident while appearing on "Stars on Mars" where he recounted the events that led to him being stabbed eleven times in a Boston nightclub. "I was like 23 years old, living my dream, and then all of a sudden I'm fighting death." He added, "Not only was it a low point, it was a high point for me, too. It changed my thinking, it changed my mindset, it changed how I lived."

To say Pierce showed endurance and perseverance after the stabbing would be an understatement. The season after he was stabbed, 2000-01, Paul played in every single game for the Celtics.
