El Moreno Mexicano started going viral in 2020 after he released a series of freestyles on social media. Known for his patriotism and penchant for mixing gangsta rap with regional Mexican music, he also gained notoriety for his distinguished difference in appearance from most Mexican celebrities and rappers. El Moreno Mexicanco is of Afro-Mexican descent, a population that makes up roughly 2,570,000 of the 126,000,000 citizens of Mexico. Their history in the region can be traced all the way back to the 1500s. Most people outside of Latin America have never heard of Afro-Mexicans before. That's because a majority of them live in the southern part of their country in places like Chilpancingo and The Costa Chica of Guerrero. In the past few years, El Moreno Mexicano has been one of the more vocal and visible Afro-Mexicans in rap music and social media, going viral with hit songs like "Soy El Diablo."
On Friday, El Moreno Mexicano dropped a new music video for a song called "Flow Montana." It puts an interesting spin on the cult-classic Scarface movie.
