Dominique Wilkins discussed his decision to leave the NBA for the European League and the subsequent challenges he faced playing in Greece. Frustrated with his situation at the Boston Celtics, Wilkins quit the NBA during the 1995 lockout and received an offer from a Greek team that made him the highest-paid athlete in Europe at the time, beating out both basketball and soccer players. Despite initial excitement over his extravagant salary and lavish home, Wilkins struggled, facing abusive fan traditions that included throwing coins and a tough coach. He also experienced difficulty when the management fined him for frequent trips home and later tried to withhold his pay.
