Yesterday, a high-ranking member of the former Grundy Crew was apprehended by the Indiana State Police SWAT team during a raid on a suspected drug house on the near east side of the city. Eric Butler, 33 years old, was taken into custody for dealing cocaine. The raid was the result of an in-depth investigation by the ISP, which revealed that the house was involved in the trafficking of cocaine and guns. During the operation, 14 others were detained and questioned but eventually released. The investigation began on September 3rd and lasted until September 6th.
It involved the use of a confidential informant who purchased crack cocaine from Butler multiple times using specially marked money. The informant also observed multiple individuals coming and going from the house and discovered a hole in the wall disguised by a mirror, used as a secret passageway for drug trafficking.
In addition to Butler's arrest, the police seized $95 of the marked money, a gold necklace with the inscription "Must Obey Bosses Forever", 55 grams of crack cocaine, 29 grams of powder cocaine, 12 grams of fentanyl, and a semi-automatic pistol with ammunition. Butler is now facing a level 2 felony charge for dealing cocaine.
