In this clip about season three of ‘The Last O.G.' show, showrunner Carl Jones, who joined the team in October 2020, shared insights about why it was renewed for its fourth and final season despite solid ratings. Although uncertain himself, he speculated that it might have to do with changes at TBS. From the show, he forged a close relationship with Tracy Morgan, praising him as the funniest person off camera he had ever worked with. Taking over as showrunner from Keenan Ivory Wayans, he noted that Morgan did not like the creative direction the show was heading and wanted it to hold more weight. Despite the increased workload in assisting the new creative direction, he appreciated that he got the chance to work more closely with Morgan both on-set and off-set. He described delivering Tracy's vision for the show as his primary responsibility and enjoyed the camaraderie on set, with Tracy often reminding everyone that they were family and not just a team.
