--------

In this clip, 1090 Jake shared his experience readjusting to life after serving time in adult prison. Upon his release in 2015, Jake was 21. He had a high school diploma, several felonies on his record, and a face tattoo gotten prior to his incarceration. His criminal record complicated his efforts to secure employment and housing, prompting him to lie about being a drug addict to access a re-entry program. Even so, discrimination remained a hurdle, illustrating what Jake refers to as "forever punishment." His inability to secure a stable job or income led him to pursue illegal activities, getting him re-arrested in 2016 for multiple offenses. Despite the challenges, he managed to avoid another prison sentence, exemplifying the complex process convicts face in integrating back into society post-release.
