Layzie Bone and Xzibit were part of a panel organized by Steve Lobel and the Black Jewish Entertainment Alliance. The event was supposed to be a part of the celebration of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary. However, Layzie Bone and Xzibit offered their own words, seemingly speaking on the culture's flaws while posing ways to save the art form.
Layzie Bone gave advice to an up-and-coming female rapper, telling her to stay true to what she does. However, Layzie then dived into what he’s seen with current female rappers and commented on the content they’ve created to build a brand for themselves.
From there, Xzibit spoke about the current state of rap, calling it a “mockery.” The “Paparazzi” rapper then gave an example, speaking on how anyone with internet access can act like a rapper without actually being good at the art form. Xzibit then called out the past generations of rappers for not unionizing and taking time to learn how to own their work/property. Watch above.
