Part 1: Albert Hughes on How They Came Up with the Title to "Menace II Society"
--------
In this clip, filmmaker Albert Hughes discusses his beginnings working with music legends such as Tupac, Eazy-E, and N.W.A. Tupac was the first to involve Hughes and his brother in producing music videos. Their work soon caught the attention of Eazy-E who took a particular interest in their student films and often involved them in his music video shoots. Hughes fondly recalled his close proximity to the musicians and recounted various amusing anecdotes of the young artists adopting a gangster posture only for the camera. Hughes also shed light on the tension between Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, suggesting that had Eazy-E been as physically threatened as portrayed in "Straight Outta Compton," Dre’s presence would not have been tolerated.
