On Friday morning, a judge denied the bond of YNW Melly (Jamell Demons) despite pleas from his legal team. The  24-year-old has not received bond since he was arrested on first-degree murder charges in 2018.

"After careful consideration, this Court finds that the State has met it burden of demonstrating that the proof of guilt is evident and the presumption of guilt is great," the order said. "The jurors' inability to reach a unanimous verdict does not alter the nation or weight of the evidence of Defendant's guilt."

One of the biggest factors in the decision was a testimony from one of the victim's mothers, who expressed concern for her safety if the 24-year-old rapper/singer was released.

"I don’t think he should receive a bond; he’s innocent until proven guilty, but he has money, and I don’t want anything to happen to me and my family, no bond please," said Leondra Phillips, Christopher Thomas' mom.

YNW Melly's second trial in the double murder case is set for October 9th. Shortly after the decision, YNW Melly's mother, Jamie Demons-King, also weighed in via social media.
