As he approached the scene, shots rang out from a nearby house, resulting in Officer Haley being struck and returning fire. This courageous officer's resilience and quick thinking are commendable, as he was able to provide crucial information to responding units while injured.
Officer Haley's dashcam footage begins as he tries to pull over the vehicle, with the taillights just activating as it turns onto 40th Street. As he exits his vehicle, Officer Haley notices two subjects fleeing from the car. Suddenly, shots are fired from a house on the west side of 40th Street, hitting Officer Haley and causing him to fall to the ground. Despite being wounded, he returns fire while requesting additional units to the scene.
Officer Haley's body camera captures his determination and bravery as he struggles to remain conscious and communicate with fellow officers. Despite his injuries, he manages to relay vital information, pinpointing the house from which the shots were fired and providing a description of the suspects.
Fellow officers quickly respond to Officer Haley's calls for assistance, applying chest seals to his wounds and ensuring his safety. Emergency Medical Services are dispatched to offer immediate medical attention and transport Officer Haley to the hospital.
